Welcome to Ricky Rood's Climate Change Blog Repository
This site contains the full collection of Ricky Rood's blogs as originally written for Weather Underground. These blogs have been organized by various subjects to allow for them to be organized and search. Maybe it is not really in the spirit of a blog, but, you know, it might be useful. About Ricky Rood
I'm a professor at U of Michigan and lead a course on climate change and how it interplays with business, and policy, and ... It's a course on Climate Change Problem solving. These blogs largely follow from that course. For more information on me, please see my personal page at UoM.
About the Blogs
All of the blogs are located on the Browse Blogs page of this site. There they are listed alphabetically by search result, starting with the full listing. To narrow down the selection of blogs for a specific interest, select the attributes you wish to apply. Once an attribute is selected, only the relevant blogs will be listed. If the selection contains multiple attributes, you may narrow your search further. To remove an item from your search, click the "x" mark next to the search term you wish to remove.
On each blog page a link (URL) is provided to the text of the blog. At the bottom of each blog page is a listing of all possible attributes and any attributes that apply to the selected blog will be displayed with a link to the right. These links direct you to the listing of all blogs under the selected attribute.
The purpose of assigning attributes to each blog is to assist you, the readers, researchers, and decision makers, in finding the best information that is available on this site. This is especially useful when searching under multiple attributes. I encourage everyone to take part in defining each blog with attributes so that the blog database is as complete as possible. To assign attributes to a blog, go to the "edit with form" tab at the top of the blog page and check any applicable attributes. With your help the community of users will be able to more effectively find information.
Notes to Administrators
To add a blog page, go to Special pages:Forms and select the Blog Page form. Simply enter the tile of the blog (and therefore blog page name) in the box and select "add or edit". You will then be directed to the form for this blog. Fill in the information and save.
If you want to add an attribute to the form to an already existing field (a field is the property - example:Natural Variability) find the correct field and add the attribute to the "values=" list (this can be added in any order).
If you want to make a new field, first go to the template for the form (Wug template) and add the new field using the same formatting of an already existing field. There are two places where this must be done:
- at the top of the template:
- and within the field definition section below (maintain the order of fields as in the first part):
- the new field definition must also be added to the form using the syntax of other form fields.
For the new field to be displayed on the blog page, the page must be re-saved (go to edit tab and save).
